Party Starter:  Get your party started with The  Party Girl Diet’s Brushetta Recipe a tasty, *healthy appetizer to make to kick off your holiday party in style.   Super Foods included in this recipe are tomatoes, olive oil, garlic, and basil.

Round off your appetizer offerings with a big platter of fresh veggies and baked chips with salsa, guacamole, and humus dips, and assorted healthy nuts such as walnuts and pistachios.

Cut up crisp veggies such as raw red, green, orange, and yellow sweet peppers, green beans, jicama sticks, celery, carrots, etc. as a healthy and fun option to chips.  And when selecting chips, try to offer baked varieties that will be lower in fat and do not contain trans fats.  Place out a few bowls of healthy “good fat” rich nuts such as walnuts and almonds for guests to snack on.

Super sides can include:

  • Spinach Salad made with sliced hard boiled eggs, red onion, and mushrooms, served with a light vinaigrette dressing (bacon bits optional).
  • A classic Cesar Salad (light dressing).
  • A basket of heart healthy whole grain rolls or baguette slices can also be offered for guests who wish to eat bread with this entree.  Keep in mind, the Bruschetta already counts as a “starchy” carbohydrate in this menu.
