For starters, you can build a better burger with the Party Girl Diet’s healthy burger tips &  nutrition tips.  We know fat juicy burgers and cheeseburgers are right up there with pizza as a national all-time favorite food – especially during BBQ season. The problem is, eating fat and calorie laden burgers, while delicious, can be a nutrition no-no.

The good news is, the Party Girl Diet’s Guide to building a better cheeseburger with:

  • Less fat

  • Fewer calories

  • Secret fat-burning and metabolism boosting ingredients

For the burger patty, select sirloin beef that is 90% lean, which will be lower in saturated fat yet still deliver a juicy burger.When it comes to beef, as the fat content decreases, the protein content increases – which is a nutrition plus.Naturally you can substitute ground turkey for the ground sirloin, or chicken or salmon burgers for the beef patty.

Another burger recipe tip is to try not to handle the meat too much. Mix in your healthy add-ins listed below gently, and when forming the patties don’t overwork it – keep a light touch.

So now just what make’s the Party Girl Diet’s Cheeseburger Recipe so healthy and national nutrition news? For starters, the veggie toppings like fresh tomato salsa, red onion and avocado add essential vitamins and nutrients, and the healthy add-in spices in this burger recipe such as fresh garlic and ground Turmeric will amp up your anti-oxidant intake, while the chili powder – one of this recipes secret fat-burning ingredients will boost your metabolism.

Top it all off with a toasted sourdough bun, which adds fiber, and contains carbs in the “resistant starch” category which will also help with your body’s fat-burning.

PLUS, the extra sharp cheddar cheese is rich in calcium and adds a bolt of flavor.

Ingredients to make the healthy Party Girl Diet’s Cheeseburger Recipe:

(Makes 1 burger – so double triple, etc. as you need to)

~ 4 oz lean ground sirloin or bison

Healthy Party Girl Diet add-ins:

  • 1/2 tsp minced garlic

  • 1/8 tsp chili powder (or cayenne pepper)

  • 1/2 tsp ground mustard

  • 1/8 tsp ground Cumin or Turmeric

  • Fresh cracked black pepper and seas salt to taste

~ 1/4 Avocado sliced thick

~ Red Onion, sliced into rings

~ Romaine lettuce leaves (wash and pat dry)

~ Sliced or coarsely shredded extra sharp cheddar cheese

~ 2 tbs. fresh tomato salsa (choose lower sodium, spicy varieties)

~ Sourdough Rolls, split and toasted lightly

~ Condiments such as grainy mustard, fat-free or light mayo, etc.

Method:

  1. Pre-heat grill to medium-high heat.

  2. Gently mix-in the Healthy Party Girl add in’s listed above

  3. Gently form meat mixture into round, 1 inch thick patties

  4. For medium rare, cook approximately 4 minutes on each side

  5. Add cheddar cheese a minute or so before finished to melt

  6. Split sourdough rolls and toast face down on grill while cheese is melting

Add your desired condiments to your toasted bun and then build a better burger or cheeseburger by layering the romaine lettuce leaves, red onion rings, avocado slices and salsa on top of your burger patty.

Of course you can be creative and add on any additional (healthy) topping you want to build a better burger.
